Fusion Success!

I have finally achieved fusion with my Farnsworth Fusor project. I first built a demonstration fusor nearly eight years ago, but it wasn’t until 2023 where I put together a serious plan for a fusion capable fusor. Over two years, I purchased surplus parts and assembled the chamber and ran tests before seeing conclusive data that I had achieved fusion.

Of course anyone can claim to have done fusion, but I submitted my results to the experienced people of fusor.net for data verification. This forum is a place for hobbyists that have either achieved fusion, or are working towards it. There are two main groups you can apply for: the Plasma Club, and the Neutron Club. The Plasma Club is for demonstration fusor builds with plasma, but no fusion. The Neutron Club is for verified fusion neutron detections, and the requirements to get in are very strict. The person that judges the data to accept you into one of the clubs is Richard Hull, who was the first amateur to ever achieve fusion in 1999. The submitted application is then open to other experienced members to ask you questions if they see anything is off. A description of the Neutron Club and the strict requirements to join can be seen here (Click to Enlarge):

After many trial runs of my fusor, I felt that I was ready to try some fusion attempt runs. I had several issues pop up during these runs over the course of about two weeks. One night during an attempt, I changed one of the valve positions to test my hypothesis about my Deuterium fuel being contaminated by an air leak, and when I hit the right voltage and pressure, my neutron detector came to life with about 21 neutron detections per second. I was ecstatic when I heard this because I knew it meant I had just achieved fusion. After this run, I did a couple of other runs to ensure it was not a fluke. It took me a full day to compile data and write my Neutron Club Application, which can be visited here, or seen below (Click to Enlarge):

After I submitted my application, I was relieved when I got this update from Richard Hull:

And now my name can be seen on the Fusioneers list:
