My longest running project is the design and construction of a Farnsworth Fusor. With this device, I successfully achieved D-D nuclear fusion, which was verified by a third party. This project is the ultimate culmination of my interests in astrophysics, nuclear science, and engineering. Learn More
Neutron Detection and Spectroscopy
In order to conclusively prove that I have achieved fusion, I purchased a neutron detection system and verified its capabilities with my own tests. I designed and built the neutron moderator barrel that is required in order to detect fast neutrons. Learn More
Gamma Spectroscopy
By using a very sensitive scintillation detector and a good lead castle, it is possible to detect trace elements in natural and man-made samples. Commercial units are marketed towards research laboratories, so they are extremely expensive. Buying a second-hand detector and casting lead makes it possible to create a budget system with great performance. Learn More

Vis/IR Spectroscopy
Detecting leaks in a high-vacuum system is very tough. Helium leak detectors and Residual Gas Analyzers (RGAs) are incredibly expensive. By making a simple visible light spectrometer with IR capabilities, vacuum leaks can be detected and sealed with the correct procedure. Learn More
